It was a graphic design school, but illustration/art played a part as well. And computers weren't even used in the first year - just pencils, crayons, ink, markers, scissors, glue... computers were sort of looked down on because they made it too easy for otherwise disoriented users to go crazy with cheap effects, hiding their lack of Clue behind prefabbed glitz...

Yes, we had to draw text by hand, cut them out of cardboard, or assemble text with photocopiers instead of snatching the next best decorative font!

Later there were web design classes, DTP classes, animation classes... I sort of muddled through or flunked them, though. And then dropped out shortly before I could have gotten my diploma... ack!
