Elfquest Index by Reader's Collection This list describes which comic issues are collected into which volumes of the black and white Elfquest Reader's Collection series. Note that this list includes ALL the Elfquest series. The information in this list was compiled by Kir, the Last Go-Back (a.k.a. Howard Yune), and annotated by Cathy Purchis. Thanks to both for letting us post this here on www.elfquest.com. Abbreviations:
In the beginning, Elfquest consisted of one title. The original Warp Graphics versions of the comics were published in black and; white (the Marvel reprints of the Original Quest were in color). Other artists started drawing Hidden Years beginning in HY 6. The Wolfriders and the Hidden Years storyline split (into Hidden Years and Shards) beginning in August 1994. In August, 1992, Warp started publishing the New Blood series. This started as single-issue stories by a variety of artists, but became a continuing storyline drawn by Barry Blair and Colin Chan starting with NB 11. The Blood of Ten Chiefs comic series launched in July 1993. These were mostly single-issue stories by a variety of artists. Jink and The Rebels began in November 1994. They were continuing stories set in Abode's future. Kahvi and Two-Spear were mini-series of 6 and 5 issues respectively; both began in October 1995. In March 1996, Warp wrapped up all the individual titles. Shards 16 ties together the final chapters of Shards, Hidden Years and New Blood. In April 1996, Warp published Metamorphosis, the prolog to the anthology series that began in May 1996 and ran through February 1999 (EQ II). WaveDancers Special #1 was a single issue published in February 1996. This is the NEW Wavedancers, not to be confused with the series that ran in 1993-94. The "original" Wavedancers story is not available as a Reader's Collection. King's Cross was a 2-issue mini-series published in November - December 1997 that concluded a story begun in EQ II 17. Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated Issue 4, Winter 1998, contained a stand-alone Rogue's Curse story. In 1998, Warp published a book called Elfquest, the First 20 Years, which contained essays, an interview with Wendy and Richard, a number of sketches, and several short comics, including the first English appearance of The Heart's Way. In 2001, Warp published 2 summer specials, the first Elfquest individual comics in over 2 years. The following list is in order by RC number. Various people have made recommendations about which order to read them in; what follows here is simply the list. The Decades in Print page has one suggestion (down toward the bottom of the page).
