Windkin is the son of Dewshine and Tyldak, though he considers Scouter his true sire. While bearing no animosity towards Tyldak, Windkin simply does not think of him as a father. Growing up in the Sun Village, Windkin felt it to be his true home, though of late, he has drawn away from the Sun Villagers. A "breed apart, kin to the wind," Savah said of him. Windkin's personality is slightly reminiscent of Rayek's, with the same "against the grain" traits, and he evidences disdain for the other members of his tribe.
Windkin was originally born a Wolfrider with both wolf blood and a Wolfrider's soul name. When he was still an infant, Aroree kidnapped him and brought him to Blue Mountain, where Winnowill genetically removed his wolf blood, rendering him immortal.
Windkin rarely stands on firm ground, preferring to float above it. At Door's request, Windkin returned to the Sun Village but found it deserted, with the soul of his lifemate, Ahdri, absorbed into the rocks. Shattered by her death, Windkin's history ends in enigma. It is speculated that Windkin is the elf sealed in wrapstuff behind the Sun Symbol (which was discovered centuries later by The Rebels).
