Skywise chases some small prey at night. He goes through a narrow ditch and suddenly starts sweating. He turns back. Cutter was watching. In the morning Cutter tells Leetah that Skywise looked upset and panicked. He fears enclosed spaces. Leetah says he never got over his entombment in Blue Mountain. To him it was only a few years ago. Cutter decides to make him face his fear. The next day Skywise hears Cutter moaning in pain from a tiny cave. He crawls in and the walls get closer and closer until he can't move or breathe. He hears Cutter again and keeps moving. He comes out in a large illuminated cavern. Cutter's fine. Skywise finds it cruel, but it was meant to be a challenge. Cutter knew his fear must be rechanneled, into fear, then anger. Skywise is still angry, and will use it to get back out.
