Kahvi and Tyldak fly over the chasm Rakek dug. They discover the Go-Backs still around. Zey is their chief. She left Urda in charge but trolls ambushed her hunting party. The Palace is gone but she can get a piece of it. Zey tells Chot they can't let Kahvi become a hero. Kahvi, Tyldak, Yun, and Chot head out. At Blue Mountain Tyldak finds the bones of Reevol's bird. He finds Kureel's second fledgeling and young and brings them to the others. The Sun Villagers celebrate flood and flower. Wing's lovemate Behtia is pregnant. Tyldak flies into Savah's hut and takes the Palace. Windkin follows. Preservers tangle Tyldak up. Windkin takes it into the basement. Kahvi's bird starts dropping rocks so Windkin lures her away. Tyldak grabs it and gives it to Kahvi. Chot grabs it, knocking her off. Tyldak grabs her and both crash into Savah's hut. Preservers wrap Chot and give the Palace to Yun. She decides to stay. Kahvi attacks Savah but Tyldak grabs her. Preservers wrap them up.
