500 YEARS AFTER DISAPPEARANCE
# 1 - 6

Kahvi # 1 "Pridequest"
The Go-Backs found some of their best stags dragged away and killed. They also find Shurka's body. Kahvi finds a snow bear in a cave. It chases her past the others. She spears the bear in the heart and it knocks her off her stag. Tyldak snatches her up. He knows she's doing this because of her discontent at leaving the little Palace in the Sun Village. She jumps off and stabs a knife into its head. The Go-Backs eat well later. Kahvi tells Tyldak the Go-Backs need a trophy from Blue Mountain, like a fragment of the Great Egg. Tyldak's against going there. She leaves Mardu in charge. She and Tyldak head south, only landing to rest. She hides from a human boat. One human shoots a goose. She takes the goose and scares them off. She and Tyldak arrive. He senses a presence. Kahvi chases an Egg fragment through the rubble. They arrive at a structure. Sitting nearby is a Glider.

Kahvi # 2 "Perchance To Dream"
Egg is holding a small version of the Great Egg. They are transported inside the Egg of six spheres. He tells the story of Aurek. He was enslaved, enthralled by Winnowill. He mastered the six spheres. He learned the heart of her plan when he fled to the core. There he renewed his bond with Timmain, mother of them all (NB #9). She entrusted him with the task of restoring the Egg to the world. He returned to his body, though greatly injured from the mountain's collapse. Two-Edge dragged him out and let him heal. It ended a game he and his mother were playing. The history of their kind is now whole again in the Egg. They go inside to talk. He refers to her father and she attacks him. She doesn't remember. The knowledge is in the egg. The High Ones walked the 'dream hunt' to perceive truths. Kahvi is told to study the carvings. She returns from her hunt with nothing. Her father Two-Spear says she's weak. His lovemate says there are other ways to lead. Icetooth finds her and says she should be pack leader and chief. In a cavern made by the High Ones (so he says) she challenges Two-Spear.

Kahvi # 3 "Music of the Spears"
Kahvi and her father battle. Two-Spear means to kill her but she wounds him twice before he knocks her down. She gets up for more but is stabbed through her chest and falls into a pool. Two-Spear says he never had a daughter and they leave. Centuries later Icetooth, alive after all of them, leads the tribe to the cave. Kahvi is alive in the pool. They have no wolf-blood due to Willowgreen's trickery. But Kahvi does. She becomes chief. While hunting a large stag that killed one of them, Icetooth is stabbed with an antler. Kahvi kills it. He says to wear the four braids of chief and dies. Kahvi punches Aurek. She's angry that she's just a Wolfrider and assumes Tyldak is disgusted. At night she steals the egg and leaves. Tyldak wakes Aurek in the morning. He knows what she did. The Egg is only the vessel of knowledge. He can make another. Tyldak is angry. This teaches her nothing. Aurek says she's on the right path and it isn't Tyldak's. Tyldak goes after her anyway.

Kahvi # 4 "Long Day's Journey"
A wolf runs away with Kahvi's dinner. She travels and has even more bad luck. Soon she reaches the lodge. She brings the egg and they feast and dance. The egg rises up through the smoke-hole and Tyldak grabs it. A young one did it with his magic, from all the excitement. He and Kahvi go after the egg. Tyldak tries to hunt but it's a disaster. He scares some humans away for their food and wine. Soon he's drunk. Two weasels take the egg into their den. Kahvi approaches to see him tearing at the ground. He says Kahvi has no right to it, it belongs to the Gliders. The young Go-Back raises it out of the hole. Tyldak says she doesn't know what's best for her. She spears his wing. He leaves saying it belongs to the Gliders and it will get home. Kahvi will say how and when the boy uses his magic. When they get back she tells Mardu that those with her blood are part wolf. Mardu's pregnancy gives her an idea to make the tribes one. Cutter has no heir. She's going to hunt a baby.

Kahvi # 5 "Troll Gate"
Kahvi catches meat to bring Cutter. She enters the Forbidden Grove. Petalwing says the high things are gone. Their holt is deserted. A troll tries to take her stag but it kicks him. Kahvi ties him up and makes him lead her to the trolls. She tells Picknose she wants Cutter's cocoon. He says no. She asks if she can have metal weapons in exchange for hunting for them. He agrees that she can stay. Maggoty keeps a troll from stealing her egg. Kahvi continues to hunt for them. Drub wants to know how she's smarter than the boys. Kahvi says by beating them at their own game. Kahvi gives Maggoty some slugs in exchange for eight skins of her best dreamberry wine. Drub watches her. Kahvi gets in on a betting game with the trolls guarding the Wolfriders. If she wins she gets a cocoon. They can split her winnings. She wins but is accused of cheating. The trolls, drunk, trip over each other. Kahvi carries what she thinks is Cutter's cocoon. Drub helps her escape. She soon cuts it open, but inside is Nightfall.

Kahvi # 6 "Pridefall"
Nightfall wants answers. Kahvi tells her she's a Wolfrider and her cub will be chief of both tribes. The fight each other. Nightfall knocks her down and pins her. She convinces her to forget it. Kahvi gets sick and then takes her back. Nightfall says all she does is use and to learn to run with her own pack. She feels she doesn't need anybody and sends her stag running. In the morning she realizes it will now take a year to get home. As she travels she calls up her dormant wolf-senses. Wolves won't let her near. She catches one stealing food. Is it a challenge? As she's halfway home she hears a wolf howl. Days later the wolf falls through ice. Kahvi pulls him out and puts him near the fire. He never came this far north before. There's a bad storm. She stubbornly presses on until she collapses. The wolf pulls her to shelter and brings food. A bond is formed. She reaches the Go-Backs and finds she's been gone three crustings. Klagg challenges her and they fight. Her wolf attacks too. She says Two-Spear is her father. They don't need a trophy, they've survived to be Two-Spear's revenge, making themselves into warriors. Tyldak returns that night. He learned he can't save her from herself all the time.
