[quote:af9378b2ee="PCoquelin"]What is strange in Jink is that elves seem to have completely disappeared from Abode, but have left a LOT of things (damn : even the Lodestone !) behind them, as well as a very intriguing human culture (women leading, heh ! heh !, and no ads !!!), and legends...
Jink and another (old) elf remain, and Jink is clearly looking for everything related to her race, and ( abusively ) uses her self-shaping talent to mix with humans.
( Casually, she saves this humanity from a war with an alien race, and undresses at a tremendous speed )
Honestly, this future stinks.
I, for one, would have imagined elves AT LONG LAST succeeding in dealing with humans on better terms... (than being forced to flee or the like)[/quote:af9378b2ee]

I agree full heartedly. I want RESON not FLIGHT.
Though it should be noted that there is little of EQ i don't like, one of my favorite characters is Jink. If it could be said there is a fictional character I'd like to meet in real life if it were possible, she'd be one of the few.

That said, that doesnt answer the question asked. I love the Jink series, and found myself unsatisfied at the end, wanting more of her... I mean the series. The Rebels, which I didn't know about until after they went online, was not ingauging, in my opinion. I felt that the effort that went into Rebels could have gone to more Jink, even if it came before if I read it right. I havent gotten all through the FutureQuest yet to get all of it or have an opinion of it.

As far as the arguments regarding fantasy vs SciFi, I feel it is an idle point arguing the validity of it's place in the series. Personally, I'm a diehard scifi fan in a lot of respects, but I've enjoyed many a good 'fantasy' storyline. In my opinion, it's all the same to me, just different settings for different stories. i like variety anyway, so just sticking to one style of fantasy (I see scifi as a style of fantasy) seems limiting.

In EQ, I feel that the subject matter was well selected and written to allow more types of interests to be covered. The origional series is scifi, as they are from space, but it's traditional, with the elves, faries, animals, magic, and other elements of traditional folklorish (it's a word if I made it up!) stories. it's epic, legendary, and mythical, ancient and contemporary, primitive and advanced. I have never felt that a part of EQ hasn't had a place in the whole of the EQ universe, just a few stories that I just couldn't get into here and there.

In actuality, though, even though I couldn't melt into Rebels like the other parts of EQ, I want more future tales. I want all the stories told. I also want more told from the beginning of the timeline as well, because I don't like a good tale to lie unfinished, especailly one that grabs you from all sides as EQ does.

No.
The idiotic focus on humans, the lack of elves in series called ELFquest, the idiotic and nymphomaniac Jink, the odd feeling of self insertion just makes this series something I couldn't get into and have no respect for.
That and I got tired of seeing Jink and that guy she shagged with kiss again and again and again and again.
In the same damn pose.
