Kahvi's mission

Maybe I'm missing something, it's been awhile since I've read Kahvi. I assume that the wolfriders still lived in the new country, where the palace had disappeared. And The Go-backs still lived where they had always lived, near the frozen mountains. So how could Kahvi get near the sleeping wolfriders in the troll caverns? Aren't they like 1000 of miles away?
When she returned to her tribe, she didn't cross the sea I guess...
It did took a year to travel back,
maybe I should watch the map of the world of two moons again. :?
My guess is that she travelled north, towards the polar regions. If she travelled during the winter, the ice might have stretched down to the northern point of Junsland (where Thorny Mountain Holt was). From there she would "just" have to cross the ice to get to the Frozen Mountains.

As far as the story goes, Kahvi met a troll, supposedly in Forbidden Grove...forced him to take her to Picknose. Since they had some way to communicate and drink wine while planning revenge on Rayek, I supposed that the trolls had an underground tunnel under Vast Deep that connected two continents.

Next though that was obviously not the case, Tyldak could carry her over the Vastdeep, at least once he could manage to make this transcontinental trip.

Tunneling under the Vastdeep would be like tunneling under the Atlantic. Even in our day, that wouldn't be at all practical. Or, safe. Just imagine any seismic shift in Abode's tectonic plates. (Japan being a tragic example.)

Why do they need a tunnel or anything at all to visit the Trolls? The Palace has taken Picknose's family to the new continent as well. And the whole Troll tribe living there are Picknose's and Odbit's offsprings.

I'm going with an "ice bridge" for Kahvi to cross the Vastdeep as well.

We'll in our day this wouldn't be practical, but we're not living on Abode.

2Embala - well, I forgot about this, and you're right.. but still you know.. Palace or no...

Why does Kahvi say "it's been a while but it looks like... yes, Forbidden Grove"?

She means that the Thorny Mountain Holt looks like Forbidden Grove because of Preservers' cocoons? Or what O_o I'm puzzled.

Then I guess she really did it on foot over the ice bridge in the North. - and Venka herself stated in KOBW that Tyldak and Kahvi were looking for the way to return to the old continent "over land"

Though still I think Tyldal COULD make this journey over the ocean (he actually did cross it before, didn't he?)

Exactly this question was discussed some time ago (cannot find the thread - it might be lost as well). When I remember right there were two possible solutions:

- the Preserver cocoons you mentioned, too
- and an author who simply messed up the two Holts :/

Yes... personally I'd like to belive first option is true, but honestly, if you look in a picture you can see an old fashioned grandfathertreekinda tree, while we remember in TMH they had really tall trees with thick trunks, not short and stocky like father tree...

the magic of inconsistent storytelling.
"Honey badger don't care..."
Had Kahvi even been to the forbidden grove? Maybe that once, when she first found Aroree...

It's possible she still had Tyldak, and that he helped her cross the ocean... on account of how he can fly and such.

"Honey badger don't care..."
the only problem is...that Kahvi states she arrives in the forbidden grove...we all know the wolfriders are not there anymore o-o even Kahvi should know, since she has lived with them prior to that story (I assume the events in 'Kahvi' happend after she left the wolfriders and Venka with Tyldak... am I right?)
this wasn't the only problem I had with that miniseries (overall too fanfictionish and Kahvi didn't strike me correct... even if I liked the idea of the Egg and Aurek!)... but it was a major mistake o-o o-o o-o
I wonder if there has been any proofreading of that story at all...cause well, that was big :-S

thanx to Embala for the lovely, lovely banner! :D
