it's completely ambiguous... with very strong hints.

i thought it was well established that her bio-dad was skywise, bio-mom was unknown, and adoptive Father of memory was egg.
I guess ill have to hit the books and re-read EQ... shucky darn!

You're almost right... biodad&mum both unknown, only Father of Memory is known... ;) hence the speculation, lol.
I have to admit I've only read a couple of pages of Jink or FutureQuest, but based on this page I thought Cutter was Jink's father.

Saying there are obstacles will get you nowhere; do what you can at the time.
Yeah, though given Shuna who he has adopted and calls daughter, it's possible she was adopted or even created somehow. But still I agree, I think she's got traits of his, but not necessarily all of them lead to Cutter. Plenty lead to Skywise and Timmain, as she's a shapeshifter after all.
Visit the Otherforest, get made into an elf! Ask me how!
Couple things i've noted so far in my studies...
(spoiler space, if needed, though I'm sure this topic is full of it)
It does imply on the first few pages of FQ that she'd be Cutter's cub, however, this is only if you look at it as though this intro is meant to tie all the info together presented. [u:4921d8271d]Another interpretation is that Cutter is refering to Ember[/u:4921d8271d] and that the image of Jink is kind of a last ditch throw in, since the series seems to have more to do with her than the elves' return.
Unless I didn't read the whole series over again as I thought I also want to add that I'm confused that they implied the series is about the elves returning in the first issue, then never referenced again.
Anyway, in FQ she does have strong wolfrider references and does put forth that she came from them. It seems debateable at this time as to whether she has any wolf blood as she seems repulsed by the carcass in the ship. (Since Im updating this post to add the spoiler space, please note that I elaborate more on this in the later post)
I will add more to this and add references when I find my notes, which I left somewhere around here... (still didn't find my notes)

I'm rather lead to think that Cutter adopted her, but Skywise and Timmain are her "blood-parents". Maybe they died and Cutter suffered, to ease his pain, Jink thought it would be best to remove his painful memories (and maybe a bit more than just the painful ones). Cutter gets angry for his loss and Jink leaves the elves in the palace (shamefully). Maybe to ban herself, maybe to collect the elfin artefacts, to give her father his memories back.

That right there is probably the best postulation I've read. It makes sense.

Long winded, but something to think about...
I'm leaning toward the thought that she's Sunstreams cub, perhaps with Brill, but this stems from my affinity for keeping to as many official story points as possible. I am also presenting a rundown of story based on this theory of what may have happened between Disco and FQ (I've not read much in the way of happenings between these times yet, but it's fun to write anyway!)
Just quick, I'd like to jot down what's brewing of an idea for 'the rest of the story':
Properties of Jink: shape shift, telepathy, and teleportation, light hair, memory erasure, "going out", ageless, long lived
Properties of sunstream: shape shift, telepathy, and movement of the palace in teleport like mannor, light hair, "going out" Ageless, long lived.
Properties of Brill: "going out", possibly others. (im not necessarily promoting her as mother, but as far as offical story to date, they do have a child on the way in Disco. Actually, as I think about it, it seems unlikely as there is no reference to any 'fishy' attributes to Jink)
This "going out" appears to be a unique ability of powerful, high-one like elves, and to me implies that if the two mated the offspring would indeed be very powerful and have unique talents (as Jink does)
So, the story as I see it being possible:
The offspring of Sunstream and Brill (or other mother, not as sure anymore) could be Jink.
(a period of time passes of good will, perhaps with the link of all elves everywhere... which leads up to the next part...)
The linking may or may not join the dead... it matters little, for Winnowil resides in a living host, and would be privy to the link (have to read the rest of Curse to see what happens there). This would eventually result in an inevitable battle between Winnowil's spirit and the whole of the elven clan worldwide.
There can only be a few outcomes of such a battle:
A) Winnowil wins, gains the palace, and all heck breaks loose (which it would appear did not happen, at least in the long run)
B) Winnowil loses, completely, and due to the brute force of the whole of the elves is oblitherated from exsitance. (unlikely)
C) A huge battle ensues, with the key figures being Winnie, Sunstream, Egg, the Palace, and perhaps some others I'm not sure of yet. Location: Blue Mountain, source of her greatest strength, which has been rebuilt in part by Egg. It is her palace and she is able to draw strength from it. This battle does eventually drag in the majority of the elves and maybe the rest of the planet. In order to combat the combined power of the linked elves, she finds the superstitious humans to be willing to link with her to battle the elves. The conclusion being a situation that in order to save the palace, Sunstream, and the planet, Jink must step in and sacrifice herself to save all. In doing so, Mindcoil is born of Winnowil's spirit, however by linking, Jink can cause Winnie to forget herself by erasing her own memory as well. The fear of Winnowil's return results in the elves fleeing the planet when they realize that the Mindcoil left behind will never go away, as it is based on an elves immortal spirit. It is also revealed that Jink does have the power to ultimately destroy Mindcoil, but must regain her memories and learn her powers again. Egg, with his beloved mountain, and his ability to retrieve the memory of the elves (from the moment we met him), stays behind to piece Jink back together. In future quest, the elves were coming back to attempt to see if she had completed her mission, but obviously hadn't yet, and even at the end of the Jink series she hasn't done all she could. (implying a continuation of the story.
The reason she could defeat the Mindcoil later is because it was linked to another mind, so hers wasn't risked.
As a result of the battle, a mind wave was released as in the series, however the difference is that the result was a flash of Elvin lore imprinted in the minds of the humans of Abode, hence all the references found in the future.
Jink doesn't really forget everything as the Mindcoil does: her memory is also in physical connections in her brain, so she still remembers her wolfrider upbringing from an instinctual standpoint.
She was in some ways forced to become a wolfrider as she didn't take to the water so well, like her father. Like her father, though, she only has little or no traces of wolfblood, hence her long-livedness and agelessness.
The crux of the matter is that she is an ageless and long lived, moderately powerful magic user who has wolfrider roots. By definition, a wolfrider is mixed blood, and not immortal, but she is. The only true "full blooded" wolfriders that are immortal are Sunstream and Skywise. Skywise has the hair and libido to be daddy, but not the magic.
One other point that narrows it down to these two, is if you believe that the character in FQ that talks about meeting his daughter is refering to Jink, both of these characters have the magical ablility to be concidered 'master of the palace' however the hairstyle and cutter-like build implys kinship, which would be Sunstream.
If you're still holding out that it's Cutter in this image, I put to it that he is refering to Ember, who would probibly stay on the planet with her tribe, who enherit the Abode.

I get the impression that Cutter still has his 'made me human' memories(assuming it's Cutter referenced as "master of the palace") as he seems a bit 'tired of life' as he has since the palace return and his long wait. Again, I'm almost wondering if he's actually talking about Ember and this is a plot dead end, just like the whole plot device of them returning.
Perhaps the Jink reference was to imply something else that was never developed, such as that she was to keep track of where Ember's tribe and all other elves were, which of course she doesn't know since she erased it.
The thing that gets me is that this "Cutter" would be on the returning ship at all! Of all the wolfriders, he seemed more out of place in the palace than most others, as much as any wolf, and I can't see him leaving the planet any more than I can see Ember's tribe leaving.
Either way, he'd be older still than in Disco, and the implication of the long sleep was that he'd not have lasted much longer if they haddn't slept. I don't know how much time supposely has passed, but I get the impression that it was either 1000 years or another 10000 years (as the story line has an affinity for this increment). I also get the impression that even those left in the Sun Folk village during the wait could not live the 10k either (pebbles). I also get the impression that 2000 years is a ripe old age for a wolfrider. Cutter is old, and so is Treestump (perhaps quite a bit older than Cutter, but I don't remember how much), but how long can they live? Would they last another 1k? Seems almost more like it's a homesick Sunstream, since we don't see a single recognisible face in the palace.
Just my opinion.

I'm trying NOT to speculate about the Space-Palace inhabitants cause [u:326496b5f3]everything[/u:326496b5f3] I'm coming up with will be wrong most probably.
Well - this silhuette reminds very much of Cutter - either a clear hint or a intentional misguidance.
Like you I think Cutter is the most unexpected elf being in the Space-Palace [u:326496b5f3]alive[/u:326496b5f3] - closely followed by Strongbow. And HE definitely seems to be there! If so ... there must have been a very valid reason to force this livestyle on those elves.
About the age - as far as I figured out by various sources, a Wolfrider's lifespan is about 2.500 til 3.500 years ... depending on the rate of wolfblood they inherited. At Discovery time Cutter spent about 550 [i:326496b5f3]lived[/i:326496b5f3] years (not willing to count exactly). Another span of 1.000 years wouldn't be a really big thing tor him - 10.000 years an impossibility tho. That means by natural means - but there is wrapstuff ... and healer's abilities ...
... you get an impression why I'm unwilling to speculate?
And for speculation - I WANT TO believe that Jink is the daughter of Recogbition of Skywise and Timmain - until this is PROVED wrong !
