2D? 3D? CGI? Muppets?

Stop motion, as in models?

Time for the Trolls to take over!
Ooops, sorry about not replying, must have fallen down from my mind.

What I mean is mostly plastelina figures. Or clay maybe, but plastelina works best. I think this fan music video explains it best.

Banner is a collab of sorts between Embala and me. The quote belongs to Scooter.

Thanks to Embala for the avatar and the banners. You're the best. Smile
Vietnamese water puppets?

Hand shadows?

Lego stop-motion?

Hand shadows? Now that would be interesting!

Leaves the question - do you have to be a "three-fingered" one to be allowed to participate? Or are more fingers appreciated? ^^

Many thanks to cometduster and Jeedai for the great Embala pictures! Smile

The more fingers, the better!

YES, please!

Just imagine the variance of costumes alone! HighOne gowns, Sunfolk moth fabric, Wolfrider leathers and Go-Back furs! And the different skins and fins of the Wavedancers. And Preservers with delicate, huge wings!

And ... well, we need Trolls! Imagine Oddbit and Trinket dancing! And Queen Drub dikrecting her Trolls. There will be employment chances for scaters who'd never dreamt of this before.

... *scratches head* ... How to get wolves on skates?

Yay! EQ on Ice! <3

I expect the wolves would be more human skaters in costumes. They could do such wonderful lifts and throws for the elves! Probably guy wolves and lady elves, regardless of character gender, and just wear costumes for the roles.

Sorry, I have to say it: of all mediums, "on ice" would be the most difficult to pull off the Go-Back's "party"... Not just controvercial, but COLD!

I have been looking into doing claymation/stop motion for short fan vids (a minute or two tops), and have aquired most of the materials, scene workflow that allows for reuse of scenes on the fly, and various other things, but like everything else, its hard to have solid blocks of time to get anywhere with it. I am a big fan of the idea (prefering the model tech and methid Tim Burton's stop motion movies have used over Ardman, though I LOVE wallace and grommet and Flushed Away. I dont think ardmann's technique would fit the wolfriders. A spoof of the Trolls, perhaps...

On the other hand; the Frozen Mountain scenes would actually make sense on ice. The Sorrow's End scenes... not so much!

Thanks for the B-day gift, Emby!
With the latest prologue scene, Vietnamese water puppetry is becoming a stronger option.

Not too fond of 3d myself, not for something I've grown to love as a 2d comic. There are many options for going 3d though, look at the Warhammer 40k production, with a tight budget as well. It looks pretty awesome (or for that matter the fan project The Grand Inquisitor (also Games workshop based)). It's really not so much work anymore thanks to modern day technology but well...

I've read about the film for ages now, I don't see it happening really Wink
I'd rather see it be traditional 2D animation. I've loved EQ since I was 13 and it was still an oversize B/W comic, and I've just always seen Wendy's art that way. It doesn't feel like it lends itself well to 3D type CGI. But whatever happens I trust the spirit of her work will be maintained.

Words that can't help but break your heart: Wendy, after viewing Disney's "Pocahontas," commented upon all the beautiful design work that went into the film. "But it's a dying art. No one wants to spend the money to do two-D animation any more." Then she sighed and said, "I wish Elfquest could be one of the last..."
