maybe moderation in spamming would allow everyone to have fun without annoying everyone else. After all, while natural conversation does tend to wander off into different subject, those are still subjects which can be grasped by someone joining in. The sample of spamming given by Krwordgazer is the typical example of appropriation of a thread and exclusion of all who may wish to join in the conversation, or post on the original thread subject. I think Krworgazer's guideline makes sense, isn't too constraining (because it only requires the respect of common courtesy), and prevent forum members from feeling unwelcome.

Disclaimer:
This is not "KR Wordgazer's guideline." This is the Preservers' guideline. And the Preservers' only make rules when they seem necessary to us, so that everyone can have an enjoyable time here.
Most forums insist that threads must stay on-topic. We could have just said, "no spamming, period." This is an attempt at a compromise, so those who like to spam have a place to do so, and those who don't want to participate or to read through all that chatter, don't have to.
No one's saying you can't post a smilie or a hug in non-spam threads, if it's appropriate to do so, in the discussion. And no one's talking about not wandering from topic to topic, when the topics spring naturally from the main topic.
I provided an example of what's considered "spam." That's what is meant, and that's all.

But myth, to some extent, is where you find it; and you know when you’ve found it by the way it goes right through you — like the first heavenly, shocking mouthful of ice cream on a hot day, or falling in love. ~ Robin McKinley

Just my two cents...what do I know? I'm just a Necroposter!

Come and read of the mystical Shaman John Greywolf in FF Worldz. Follow along as he travels the physical and metaphysical world, meets with the living and spirits long passed, and walks the path of a Medicine Man.
Shaman your not a Necroposter! Your like me in some ways, you love to stir the pot and shake things up. Somwtimes it needs to be done or you become stale and boring. Spamming does have it's place, but bringing up old threads also have a place. It gives an opportunty for others to see an old post and their spin on it.
So I'm on the short side and have a strange sense of humor. I don't see a problem. Do You?
