Q. From Dreamweaver - Did you want to be a director because of Elfquest or because of other creative outlets and if so what were they?
A. Nope. I didn't want to become a director because of Elfquest. I read the books when I was eleven and I don't think I had any idea then that the job even existed. If I had known at the time, maybe. I suppose I came around to wanting to be a director because I liked telling stories (I was always the Game Master whenever my friends and I played role-playing games) and I liked writing (both my parents are pretty big book hounds so I grew up reading and writing a lot). Those two things get you half-way there. If you add into the mix that you don't like other people messing with your ideas, then —presto— you're a director. Or, at least, you want to be.
