In the 70s....

Hi Elfparents,

Spoiler space done.

This is a question about the earliest days of Elfquest. In EQ #4, when Leetah was eavesdropping on the Wolfriders as they howled, there were accompanying pictures of each of the Chiefs.

What did readers think of Timmorn at the time? He had long hair and looked very lupine--but this was shown before the wolf blood was fully revealed. Did anyone guess that they were blood related to their wolves?

Oh, good question! I remember very well that I thought Timmorn looked dangerous and weird when I first saw him (at the age of 9 years old). I couldn't imagine how he would have managed to get a daughter! My opinion on that has changed with time though...as I now understand more of the World of Two Moons Wink
When that issue was first put out, in the '70's... the page that showed the images of the chiefs was not included. That was added later, in a reprinting. Originally, the names were just chanted with blood drops- and the only past chief the reader saw was Bearclaw.

I hoped you would repost your "lost" answer, lunacat. Thanks.

Many thanks to cometduster and Jeedai for the great Embala pictures! Smile
Many thanks to Moonmoss for the beautiful Merbala in my avatar Hug
I remember the original issue as well with the chief's names. See their likeness later was great. As for Timmorn U wasn't surprised how he looked. I was a bit older when I first started reading the series and had already come to the conclusion that the Wolfriders were very special.
So I'm on the short side and have a strange sense of humor. I don't see a problem. Do You?

I've noticed differences between my original color album F&F story, and the latest version. I especially like the added interaction between Nightfall and the wounded Redlance in the desert.

Time for the Trolls to take over!

Wasn't Prey-Pacer's name also given as Far-Runner? I seem to remember reading this in an old publication.

That isn't true ... I remember seeing page number 8 in the first printing.

We traced every single one of those faces because it was the first time that we had the full line of chiefs laid out in chronological order as I recall.

I remember being more fascinated with Rahnee than the others - no one has ever had her physical traits really.

But on wolf blood, I was convinced that they had wolf blood from the get go - what threw me more was the coming of the palace, that never really seemed to "fit" for me until end the end of the first quest series. lol. But then I was also into werewolves and anthropomorphism even then, so that might have been more my wishful thinking than anything else! lol.
