EQ Fan Art Contest 2012

Because I cannot find this post anywhere, I will post it for Elfpop&Elfmom here:

Status update from EQ official page on Facebook:
FLASH!! ANNOUNCING FAN FRIDAY! To celebrate YOU and to share your wonderful creativity, we're starting a new contest. Show us (by posting on this page, or private message if you're shy) your best EQ Fan Art, based on the week's theme, and next Friday ElfMom herself will choose from all submissions and announce - and showcase - the winning entry here and on elfquest.com. Gain glory! Find fame! Lock up a load of "likes"!

This week's theme is SKYWISE - now go to it! AYOOOAH!

--------
Summary of answers on questions by fans in comments:
-no cosplay, there will be special cosplay contest weeks
-enter as much art as you wish
-an original work (as opposed to an interpretation of artwork already published in the comics) will have a much, much better shot.
--------

This status was posted currently 6hours ago. I have asked them if it was posted on the Scroll, but I think they're asleep now xD
Anyway, I wanted to give artists on the Scroll here without FB the best shot at participating by posting it here.
For those not on FB and not willing to join - I will happily post your artwork to the EQ page for you, as that seems to be the way to participate.

Thank you for keeping us informed, faeriegirl!

Cannot resist to post something here ... and NO. This is not for Facebook!
First it's not original art as such but a collage made from Wendy's (and others?) artwork - used by permission.
Second this is my Secret Santa 2010 gift to Icebird - won't spread it without her permission.

This weeks theme: Skywise ... and there's a collage makers answer Wink

Some could be lovemates - belongs to Icebird!

Many thanks to cometduster and Jeedai for the great Embala pictures! Smile
Many thanks to Moonmoss for the beautiful Merbala in my avatar Hug
I found it so weird that they posted this only on Facebook... I felt it belonged here too.

Collages seem to me as certainly allowed in the contest, though it seems they have a lesser chance of winning because they are an 'interpretation of artwork already published'.

This Skywise collage simply has to be included... It is wonderful and shows his different sides. I hope Icebird sees this and agrees that it should be entered anyway!

Thank you for this great praise, fae! ... must admit that I'm proud of this piece Happy
Oh ... and I think it took me longer than a week XD

"Anyone who counts is on Facebook anyway!" That's FB's marketing policy ... and obviously common belief by now.

Many thanks to cometduster and Jeedai for the great Embala pictures! Smile

Thanks faeriegirl for putting this one up here! I also though it was strange that they only said it on facebook, but that doesn't matter now!

Even though Cutter is in it also, I just though I would put this one up Smile

Oh and this one, just made it, with pride XD

Elfpop replied on Facebook that he made an announcement on elfquest.com (where??) but that indeed this contest lacked its own forum thread. And linked to this thread saying 'faeriegirl has already created a thread here <link>' ^^

It's on top of the "Dashboard" tab - the information bar Richard is using for annoncements of all kind. Havn't noticed it in the morning ... no idea whether it was there already. I'll better make sure to look it up ACTIVELY each time I go online. We "Scrollies" are thread-fixated ... may be a bit too much Wink

I like your cheerful, curious Skywise with his new "star shard", Wolfie. He looks very young and innocent there.

Is this done with color pencils, Kindredsoul? I love the soft shading of skin/cloth and how you made the armring shine. Lively looks for Foxfur and cubling. Proud Skywise with his cubling in the arms and his mate snuggling on his shoulder ... it has the mood of true peace. The two cubs are so real ... I can hear the baby cheer. Love this drawing, Kindred. Heart

Yes... guess I should have mentioned that. Colored pencils, a little ink. I can't figure out art/coloring programs on the computer for the life of me to fix what I want to in it. I'd have to do the entire thing completely over *headdesks*

But thanks so much for the compliments, gals Wink I remember being told a long time back that the skin shading was too dark for Wolfriders, so I pretty much tucked the piece away *blushes*

The skin may be a bit dark for Wolfriders, but then again this may be after a few years of living in the Sun Village so some browning would be normal! I love it!

Thanks, I've seen it now! ...but still, posting entries in a dedicated thread may be less of a hurdle for some artists compared to private messaging here or on FB! (especially with the 'if you're shy' notion... which I find weird, frankly)
