The creators of the popular fan trailer now have rights to produce the Elfquest movie. What can we do to help launch this project?

Sorry- I'm just tired of seeing "WB picks a producer" every time I look at the forum. It's just depressing. Let's be completely honest... WB sucks!!

I don't mind seeing this thread topic... and I'm guessing y'all don't either.

Cheers.

Fan Trailer

I know it's been discussed here on the Scroll already, but I can't seem to find the thread anywhere so I'm creating a new one.

You absolutely must watch this teaser for the fan-produced Elfquest trailer that will be revealed in its full 5 minute glory on April 6th. It's really stunning -- and this is coming from someone who has been rather vocal that human beings could never capture the Elfquest elves' grace and beauty. I'm totally eating my words after watching this.

NOTE: This has nothing to do with the Warner Brothers film or Warp. It's a labor of love made by some very talented fans.

For some reason I can't embed the video, but you can watch it on YouTube here.

And check out the website for the project for behind the scenes pics and other goodies.

Elven Live Actors... Who do you see in different roles?

I do apologize if this was covered somewhere else, but I didnt see it specifically under the movie subforum.

We all have our opinions on how the movie should lay out, but as I was reading some of the comics I saw a character and had that "hey! That looks like...!" moment.

What parts have you seen in your mind played by who?

The one I saw was of Winnowil at the beginning of Shards (though in this instance it was the ashcan) as a human. She looks just like Angelina Jolie, I think. Ill have to put together a side by side pic when I get time.

Anyone else?

WB Picks a Producer

Wendy just announced on her Facebook page that Warner Bros has picked a producer for the Elfquest film: Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

He produced the Transformer movies and one of my favorites, the film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's illustrated fantasy "comic" Stardust (along with many other big budget films). Check out more about him on IMDB.

This seems like great news in terms of Warner's commitment to the project.

Discuss!

Necessary "Amendments"?

One of the reasons I'm really glad I'm no elf is, I don't want to recognise anyone or having my soul laid bare to any guy.

Which makes me think of the film.

From a human point of view, one could think of recognition as some form of rapture (or better, a kind of forced marriage). One is forced to "give in" (otherwise it will drive you crazy), no matter if the person want it or not. One is forced to have sex without, necessarily, feeling love. Think of Dewshine.

Try to think of an audience, who doesn't know EQ.

Of course, one could argue, they are elves and they are different of us humans. But: Elfquest is a fiction made by humans for humans. Their emotions are "human concepts" (love, hate, grief).

Wouldn't it be necessary to change the idea of recognition for the film?

Can you think of other parts of Elfquest which would have to be changed?

Remake of the Wolfrider CD Movie-style!

I just got an idea! (Or am just adding my view to the idea; whatever)

How about, in commemoration to Elfquest, Elfpop and Elfmom, and the people who made their music for 'A Wolfrider's Reflections', there is a remake of all the songs, but sung by the cast of the movie!

I know, I know, it's a bit of a wild idea, but wouldn't it be interesting to have the Wolfrider's themselves sing their songs, and bring them to life? Of course the cast hasn't been decided yet, and maybe some of them can't even sing; but there's always the choice of finding a substitute singer who sounds exactly the same, like they did in the cartoon 'Anastasia'! I think it would be an amazing experience to have the Wolfriders, Go Backs, Gliders and Sunfolk sing their own songs. I can almost hear Strongbow sing 'The Confrontation'.

As for the songs like 'Bearclaw' or 'Nightcrawler', they can be sung perhaps by Cutter or one of the other Wolfriders as a storytelling, like that time at Sorrow's End.

So watta ya think guys? Yes or no? Keep it polite please!

I'm glad that WaRP is finally getting the long anticipated movie off the ground.

What I want to know is, are any of the several storylines going to be advanced?

Are we going to see the Go-Backs under Venka as they search for Khavi?

Are we going to see Ember and Tier recognize? Or even find a solution to their tribe's ongoing problems with the Djun?

How are things going to play out at the Father Tree Holt as Shuna plays go-between for Cutter's Wolfriders and the human tribes living nearby?

Maybe a story about how the ex-Sun Villagers are adjusting to living in the forests around the Father Tree Holt, or do they just spend all their time in the Palace now?

And how about those two that are still running around the Forevergreen?

What's Windkin up to?

And let's not forget Rayek, Ekuar, and Winnowill...

One thing that I have always enjoyed about EQ, is the personal touch that is given to the fans. I have even had the privilege of chatting casually with Richard Pini on a yahoo chat.
The question I have to ask is when the movie comes out, and (of course) is a success, what will happen to that personal touch?

The fan base will grow, and so will the duties of dear Elfmom and Elfpop. Thus creating less time to read all those letters and such that they see to personally.

What are some theories/ worries on this subject?

How do you think life here on the forums will change when the movie comes out?

Something I've not seen too much discussion about yet is how things will change here in the Scroll of Colors when more people hear about the new movie (trailers) and then when the movie comes out.

For the last few months I've been on here, there seems to be no more than a dozen or so people on at any give time, with about the same viewing either not logged in or new to the site.

I'm wondering how big of an explosion we can expect with new blood coming in and what changes we can expect from a new generation of fans.

I can see there being a bit more traffic hitting the site with the trailers, but perhaps as high as several thousand new members hitting the boards when the movie comes out as they fall in love with ElfQuest.

On the technical side im hoping we won't see crashes or delays (bandwidth issues) with the influx, or issues with hackers as attentioin is brought to the site.

On the community side, I'm hoping the caring, peaceful feel of the Scroll is maintained, it'll be up to the ones that have been here and groomed the boards into what they are to lead the newcomers when they hit.

On the discussion front, i also hope that the new format coming soon will help us keep from losing our favorite threads in the potential flood that's coming.

What do yall think? Perhaps our fearless leaders or site admin. has some insite?

(Preservers: If this is more appropiate elsewhere, feel free to move it, delete it or change it as needed)

ElfQuest Comic Reprints???

[color=green:a31c5fab3d]I was in one of my local comic shoppes yesterday and I passed by the "E" section and saw...a bunch of new ElfQuest reprints. These were the Father Tree colorings, I believe, but they were like reprints. The covers were slick and shiny and thin, like paperback, but just a bit thicker. Are they new reprints? Are all the issues going to be reprinted (if that's what these are)?

The gal at the desk said that they just ordered them not too long ago and she thinks they're new but, I'm not sure. OH! And the issues were...Book 5 and Book 6, if I'm not mistaken as well as a hardcover Book 4...which looked as new as the rest.[/color:a31c5fab3d]
