...Ok...I wuld like to post something...and this requires my Preserver hat.

Ok...what I mean is...please post a spoiler space when you state something that many people may not know.

Something like this

This is for those of us that have not read certain volumes.

I hope I haven't erked anybody..but this is something I have seen work well on other Forums...and it does help keep many of us Pure (Besides Zeb)*Snicker Snicker*

I would like to add something:

Write "SPOILERS" and then up to what comic they could have read. Like if the spoiler is in Siege at Blue Mountain, write just that. Because there is no knowing where the spoiler people put in is from :)

Right, Tiger and Arfurido. Some of us had this discussion before a while back, and decided that it mostly applies to these general discussion topics, like the one this topic is in. Because people go, for instance, to the "Kahvi" thread because they've read Kahvi and want to discuss what they've read. It's impossible to talk about the book without revealing some of the plot.

So if you don't want spoilers for a book you haven't read, please don't read the the topic for that book.

In the general forums, like "The Great Egg" or "All the Many Colors," we should put spoiler warnings, along with the name of book we're "spoiling."

I agree KR. I meant that if the spoiler is in SABM as in the comic SABM, not the subforum SABM. The spoilers are only needed for these two forums (All the many C, Great egg) but what I meant was: write "Spoiler, up to Siege at blue mountain" or something at the top of the post containing the spoiler. And then, if someone quotes, they need to keep the spoiler space.

Anyway, if I'm one of the guilty parties who ruined a plot for you, I'm truly sorry. I try to be careful, but sometimes maybe I'm not. :oops:

I can't remember a topic (where spoilers are necessary )without spoilers...
So I don't think this is such a big problem.

I like the icon, Three-Edge! Now, if only there were a way to make it readily accessible, so people could see and use it.

Alternatively..
As I have said before, I recall other forums where they have a built in spoiler function too.
One then types [spoiler] spoilerhereyaddayadda [/spoiler] thing.

And then that text is covered entirely with black blocks, until one moves the mouse cursor over it and it is highlighted and text is visible.

I wonder if this could be dabbled with in the coding, or if it's a ready code somewhere to be added to the other message body selections..

Well I know a way. Its a mod I have on my pc from another phpbb forum here's a description:

Adds a Hide BBcode to your forum, which reveals the hidden code (images too) when some text is clicked. Great if you want other users to agree before viewing information about for example the ending of a book. Also great for hiding screenshots and big images so they don't screw up the page layout.
Usage: [hide]Hidden code here[/hide] or [hide=Text to be clicked]Hidden code here[/hide] Here's the download link for the file maybe the admin or the moderators can use it

Maybe this is usefull for the forum. I used it to on my old forum where I was moderator and it worked great :D

Elyon, interesting! I have downloaded it. Thing is, I have no clue whatsoever how to add it. And I really don't think I have the "power" to do so... but hey, I couldn't find the stickymaker at first either :mrgreen:

Yes, <spoiler></spoiler> and <hide></hide> codes are functions than are disable on this forum (like many funny others, <scoll></scoll> for instance, but that's not the point). Only The administrator, Skyfall can make them usable...

I'll take a look at the code and see if that's something that is in there... if not, I can look at the suggestions here and then see what we can do from there... I know how nasty improperly indicated spoilerstuffs can be. I'll see what options we have and go from there...

Of course, it'll prolly be this weekend that I have a chance to look. The next day or so is going to be crazy time around here. (End of the Year stuffs...)

We'll find a way to get that working technology-wise. Whether or not people will actually put it into use... that's another question. :)
