My turn to try a new topic :
What are your favourite Elfquest pictures ?
I, for one, am a pix hunter, and Elfquest has been a wonderful source.
My favorite by far is Suntop on the plate called "Children of Elfquest"
( Portfolio 3, or #9 backcover (??), if I remember well )
Another one : Suntop sitting and staring at the skull ( supposedly Rayek's )
in #9 (that : I'm sure)
#13 cover was splendid (Timmorn : what a character !)
Many more have raised my interest, I consider these the top-pix.
BY THE WAY ! If someone knows an artist able to REFINE some pix, well, um, I'm pretty much interested... 'cuz I manage with a scanner and PSP, but I'm only an amateur, no doubt...

I like these 2 French covers (I don't know if they have been used for any of the American editions)

I HATED the French translation. Really. Enforced the "for kids" effect.
The worse in fact, was translating the names.
It doesn't feel right at all, in French.
But these covers were not bad, indeed.

Elfquest is called "The Country of the Elves" in French? Hmm. What's the French word for "Quest," and why didn't they use it? Any ideas on that, Arthis?
Yes, I've seen those covers before. Don't know where they were originally published, though.

But myth, to some extent, is where you find it; and you know when you’ve found it by the way it goes right through you — like the first heavenly, shocking mouthful of ice cream on a hot day, or falling in love. ~ Robin McKinley
Most of my fave elfquest pics are from the lovemates calendar...but there are others I like too...

French world for "quest" is "quête".
The first title in French was "Elfquest, la fantastique quête des Elfes" (Elfquest, the fantastic quest of the Elves), but it turned to "Le Pays des Elfes" (The Country of the Elves) after isue #8 (issue with Nonna and Adar).
I don't know why, maybe "Elfquest" was too English/American and "Elfquest, la fantastique quête des Elfes" too long...
But "Le Pays des Elfes" sounds strange, especially if you consider that one of the main question of the first quest was “where is our (the elves’) true home?”
As PCoquelin has said just before, the French translation was awful all the way (especially the names, constantly changing from one issue to the other).

And when Rainsong is pregnant and said to Leetah she know the baby (mender) will be a healer, in the french translation you understand that is Rainsong is going to be a healer. Before read on the net for this wrong translation, I was thinking Rainsong AND Mender was healers

When I figure out how to insert images... :)
Some of my favorite individual pieces are...
"... Tam?" Says Leetah while touching Cutter's back, he is still crying... It makes me cry.
The firefly dance pages.
And yes - the cover of issue 13 was what made me go back and buy all the priors. I'd read a couple before then, but got away from comics for a while. Then... Timmorn. Yeah. Timmorn.

The image has to be available on the net. One good site to display images was given by Skywise (Thanks!)

step 2. choose your image and upload it on the site
step 3. copy the link given by the program for your image (for exemple http://photos.mossgreen.net/html/upload/mains.jpg)
step 4. come here and display your image by
 step a. clicking on the Img button

Arthis, C'est Bilal tas photo? Is that Bilal on your avatar?
One of my favourite EQ pics is the one in Book 3 Blue Mountain, right after Strongbow decides to leave, Its a pic of cutter looking discouraged leaning against a pillar with door in front of him.

No it isn't, it's Arthis Jolinon, drawn by Faure for the French graphic novel/comic Balade au bout du monde.
Well, these are my favorite ones:

Love all three.
The talk of translation... amazingly, the Russian one was pretty decent - and it IS a RARE thing about Russian translation! But they did mess up the names all the same...

If you have to choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before!
Hmm, any semi-naked pic of Cutter or Rayek in loincloth or thong (And funnily enough you get to see them that way quite alot!) gets my vote, but If I had to choose it'd be the pic of Cutter in, I think, the 2002 calender. Don't quote me I maybe wrong. Either way it's a three image pic I just think he looks amazing and so does the artwork.
Also the one from the lovemates calender of Rayek. I love that tear falling down his cheek, so sad! But sooo cute.

This might not come as a chock...

For me, this pic sums up everything Mender are and represents.
*sigh*
Of course there are other panels and pics from the original EQ that are far more breathtaking, but I'll stick to this one for now.
