Preserver's Plea

In France I learned to:"turn seven times my tongue in my mouth" mostly to give me the time to think whether I really, really, really wanted to blurt out this specific thought. (still sometimes I shouln't have openned it anyways) In America I learned that we have two ears and one mouth so we can listen twice as much as we talk. I'll second (or third) the reading bit to open one's mind, but don't limit your listening: plenty of wisdom can be gleanned that way even from unlikely sources such as biased talk radio. After all, they allowed you to conclude, based on your experience, that they were serving you balonney. That's also wisdom, even if that's not what they were trying to impart.

True,

I still listen to some, as Sun Tzu says, know your enemies.

Edited after turning that tounge those seven times, because, again I really don't want to get up on that soap box.

I'm actually a little suprised to see this thread here, as I've not really ran into much malice here on EQ. It's one of the things I've noted and liked about it here and I've mentioned it before. Not that it's not valid or anything, I wish it could be made policy in day-to-day living, but at least here I can retreat and find I'm surrounded by friends.

Sure, there are times I run into the occasional "bad day" or grumpy attitude on a subject but it hasn't really been directed at anyone, just part of their opinion. Things usually track back to something more encouraging in a post or two afterward.

Of course, this particualr thread was started before I joined, and perhaps something was different then, but at least for now I have to say "Good Job!" to everyone making this a wonderful and friendly place to visit and enjoy!
