I'm working on an Elfquest d20 conversion and I've gotten to the point where I need to start converting elven magic to the system. First step, compile a list of all of the elven talents. I'm looking to be pretty comprehensive; I've even brought in a power or two out of the BoTC novels. Still, I was wondering if you all could point out any that I've missed. The list is below:
Sending
-Black Sending
-Astral Projection
-Mindshield
-Mindhold
-Animal Bonding
-Animal Control
Plantshaping
Rockshaping
Healing
-Anti-healing
-Fleshshaping
Floating
Telekinesis
Shielding
Boneshaping
Pyrokinesis
Shapechanging
Finding
Magic Sense
Wolf-friend (Wolfrider only)
Multiple Bonds
Thanks very much!
Added:
Mind-wipe
Teleportation
Watershaping
Animal Sending (group specific)
Deep Sense
Soulsnare
Lightshaping (?)

Freezing gaze (Rayek)
Mind-wiping,
"Jinking" (short distance teleportation) (Jink)
Sending-spying (Winnowill)
Human powers...
Sending (several instances)
Mind-reading (Torlon Graaf, probably others?)
Thought suppression/control? (Jerrod Anaken/other Black Snakes)
Precognition? (Bone Woman, Sherla?)
"Seeing" (of spirits) (Sherla?, some other woman in a tavern)
"Spirit-capturing" (Sherla tried)
Water-pushing-around (Winnowill)
Freezing gaze (Rayek)
I've actually got those two as Telekenesis and Mindhold respectively, but thanks for the reminder about Jink.
Okay, I thought telekinesis would be more general. Just like a rockshaper can't shape metal, Winnowill didn't show any signs of "telekineting" anything other than water at the time, if I recall correctly. So maybe it's watershaping?
Hmmm. A good point. I remember specifically that Winnowill was one of the few Gliders we saw who couldn't float herself. I don't recall if she ever fetched anything with telekenesis, but I do know that we see WaveDancers, most obviously Surge, use water manipulation as a weapon without evidence of other telekenetic ability. Yeah, I think that's enough of a distinction to merit its own ability. Good call. Thanks again.

While I'm bringing in elven powers that we see in books that take place before and after the original quest, I'm using a setting that corresponds to the original quest. We haven't seen how Shuna got her Sending abilities yet, so it's very hard to write a system for, and most of the others require more advanced human tech. I am writing up some human-specific classes, but their powers are more shamanic -- re: Bone Woman and Gottora Man -- than actually magical. So just focussing on elves for the moment, humans and trolls and preservers later.
The noun is "pyrokinesis"... and telekinesis, too. Same root as "kinetic", if that helps remembering the spelling.
anything mising?
coral shaping (Snakeskin)
metal shaping (Ahdri, may be non-canon, though)
Are you including stuff like Prey-Pacer's and Talon's sending to animals under animal control? Might take a note that it may be limited to species or groups like snakes, then.
Wolf-sending would be another point of sending, I think; at least it seems to be rather different than normal sending, from what I remember.
"Floater" is a form, but different from, "Glider", by the way. The only Floater in the comics is Windkin. He's slower than a Glider, and I think also lacks perseverance.
- Animal mimicry (Teir)
- Inner Eye / Deep sense (Suntoucher)
- Shapeshifting (Timmain) which is IMO different from fleshshaping
Is Mindshield the "white sending" of Venka (and Timmain at the end of Shards), or the power that Leetah and Strongbow together use against Winnowill in book 3? (Or both?)
edit: sorry for the "shapeshifting", it was already on the list as "shapechanging"
Cast as Hummer in the EQ forums movie

Thanks. :)
There's also
- Animal mimicry (Teir)
- Inner Eye / Deep sense (Suntoucher)
The first one falls under Animal Control. To be honest, I was never really sure if Suntoucher's ability was actually a power or the heightening of normal senses you to compensate for a sense lost. I'll put it in anyway; something like that could be...interesting, especially when characters first meet up. ;)
I'm missing Hypnotism, Rayek can hypnotise people and animals.
Covered under Mindhold.
Is Mind-snare (What Winnowill used to capture Savah) included in Mindhold?
Other than that, you've got everything that's included in the official EQ RPG book. 8) It's pretty old, though, so it might be missing a couple that have emerged since it was written..
The High Ones could start fires with magic..I dunno whether this is any help, however, as I doubt you're going to allow someone to play a High One...
Well, Zarhan Fastfire was a firemaker even though he wasn't a High One. And don't remember where on this site, but some people were discussing the possibility of Winnowill being a firemaker too.

Pyrokenisis is covered.
Right now I just have the stats for the four basic tribes laid out, as well as a framework for customizing those born of two tribes. Adapting for High Ones, First Comers, and the Hunt is on the list, but relatively low priority. A historical EQ game could be fun, but I think most of my group would be more interested in Wolfriders and Go-Backs.
Is Mind-snare (What Winnowill used to capture Savah) included in Mindhold?
I think that would be a subset of Astral Projection. Mindhold covers more Rayek's set of abilities, like his freezing gaze and hypnosis.

Ooo, neat! From what evidence? Or is this just going back to Winnowill being able to do *everything*?
And Rayek has his energy blasts - thats probably an extension of fire-shaping/making.
Did Rayek ever use those at a time when he wasn't overflowing with energy from dozens of dead Gliders? If not, I'd consider them more of a circumstantial occurance than an actual power. But thinking on it, it leads down into the next comment...
And Savah lit the lanterns at the Festival!
I don't recall, did Savah light the lanterns with fire or was it light manipulation? I remember from the 'Journey To Sorrow's End' novel that Savah made the pictures on the wall of her hut glow as she told her story to the Wolfriders. Looking at Max von Bek's suggestion, I think lightshaping could be a good power to build up into energy blasts over time.
Soulsnare added, Lightshaping added as a possibility.
