Try and show ( or tell ) here what pictures or scenes or events stir the deepest nostalgia in your heart.
And why.
With these pictures, Wendy proved "herself to herself" :
Then Elfquest appeared :
And around year 1980 we had wonders...
Then came Winnowill...
I think Wendy reached a peak in her style around 1980, but when I say "peak", it's not so much about technique, but far more about heart.
Book 2 ( Donning ), for that matter, really was a wonder to me, with a very good choice of colours that enhanced the "naive" effect and let Wendy's 80's style bring the maximum affect, er.. effect.
Your turn.

Nowth, those pictures with your one descriptive word made me feel more than I have in a long time.
To everything, there is a season, a time to cry and a time to laugh. Mostly to laugh.

Yes - there was definately blood, sweat and tears in the old stuff. I could smell it rising up from the pages. It was more... much more than noodling with the inking. For me (not for everyone, I understand) detailed work is more than just "spinach".... it is the lifeblood of good work.

These are quite fragile, almost heartbreakingly delicate creatures... yet they're intensely physical, and perfectly at home in a naturally "dirty" environment... fine lines and some amount of fiddly detail work well for that, methinks! Though, frankly, I'm a bit confused. Wendy's Elfquest has always looked very clean to me; with the exception of Wolfrider perhaps. Any "spinach" seemed to be precisely where it belonged, or employed for some specific reason at any rate. Ohwell. My untrained eyes, perhaps. Or the things I think of when I compare. Like... lavish, scribbly French fantasy stuff full of pudgy befreckled tavern wenches and gnarly tatterwinged fairies.
Scarlett, you ok? That sounded sad...

I'm ok, thank you. To me, it's your poetic soul that seems "fragile, almost heartbreakingly delicate" and when you share glimpses, it makes me feel almost...heavy. Not sad though. You are an elf, Nowth! :) *hugs*

I feel that way about so many of you.

That was cute...

Everybody is, and that's the trouble, ain't it? :P
Speaking of which, this is where I go to find power:

I'm sure Kahvi would agree. Trophies, story of my life. Proving myself to myself, constantly, to silence the evil voices underground.

Stop taking me seriously, darling! *kisses nowth, just to annoy him*
All the world's a stage, and somewhere in the country, Anne Hathaway-Shakespeare is weeping...
I'm my own winnowill too, but only because I want to! I know how to not drown - trust me, please.

How could I not take you seriously... how could I know when not to take you seriously... how could I know when not to worry... you seem heavy with dark fairy story stuff either way...
