Lately there's been a resurgence in "spamming" (off-topic chit-chat) in threads all over the Scroll.
Now, the fact is that many members here find off-topic chit-chat and exchanges of short, joking posts, fun-- and it leads to a relaxed, chatty forum atmosphere. But it can also be quite dismaying to find a thread that is supposed to be devoted to discussion or sharing on a certain topic, filling up with this kind of chit-chat.
So the Admins and Preservers are presenting a compromise. Certain threads in Off-Topicisms are going to be designated spamming threads, and off-topic chit-chat should be limited to those threads. As there are already a number of these threads open, the rule is this: If a thread is in Off-Topicisms and has the word “Spam” in the title, you may spam there. If not, please stay on-topic.
Also, there should not be more than four spam-designated threads actively being used at any one time. Please don’t open new threads with “spam” in the title unless there are less than four active spam threads in use. If an old spam thread gets bumped up and reactivated, please let one of the other ones drop.
Preservers may lock threads if we get a multiplicity of spamming threads, and they may delete spam from threads that are not spam-designated.
