"Ask Rawson Thurber" discussion

About this: http://www.elfquest.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6242
This is AWESOME! I really like this guy, he really cares about the fans :D

Any thoughts about what to ask him?

Thanks to Nightsea for my lovely avatar :D
I want to know if Lord Voll blew his nose after he sneezed!

My suggestion would be: post here what question(s) you sent to Richard, so the other people won't need to send the same question...
...or maybe the Pini's will select questions based on how many times it was sent, then this is no good...

I would like to know which books will be covered in the movie, but maybe that's not even known yet... shall I ask anyway? :P

Yes ask faeriegirl, because that's the first question that came to my mind. :D
So I'm on the short side and have a strange sense of humor. I don't see a problem. Do You?

question is on it's way! here's my pm:

Hello,

I would like to ask which stories will be covered in the movie; will it be the complete Original Quest, or part of it (which part?), or even include (part of) Siege at Blue Mountain?
and btw, wonderful to let us ask questions!

love,

faeriegirl

oh, and the hint question Richard suggested would be a nice one too, I think.
The one of 'how do you decide what to cut and what not' or something like that. Anyone wanna send it in?

This is what I really considered important to ask.

Having seen many books made into movies, in a lot of cases the "vision" of the movie makers is very different than the original work. Sequence in time doesnt mean a lot for quite a few makeovers into film. Is the Heart and Soul of Elfquest being left to beat strongly or should we expect something unexpected?

That's basically what I want to know as well. The only other question I would ask would be the CGI/drawn animation style question. I assume it's CGI, since that's the way it is these days.
Remember that all questions has to be sent to Richard (user RichardPini) by PM (personal message) :)
Arfurido's headcanon: Dart is gay. End of story.
oh! oh!
will someone please ask what the plan is for the film release? I mean, only in the USA or worldwide release? It's probably not definitive yet (or not known at all), but what will they try for?

and indeed the question about the heart&soul of Elfquest is a very very important one. Please send it in :)

Yes I'm asking other people to send them in since I've already sent a question, and Richard stated that they will probably pick one question per person...

And people ofcourse please post here what question you sent in!

I PM'ed the "Heart and Soul" question before I even saw this topic originally.

Ive been around Elfquest for quite awhile and the only thing Im really worried about is the possibility of doing serious damage to something thats so well done allready. So, you could say Im VERY worried about someone other than Wendy or Richard wonking with things.

The following was posted by SanSan in another thread; I have moved it here where it really belongs. (Unfortunately, there is no way simply to move a message so the avatar and signature survive the trip.)

Plus, every post has a number of buttons at its bottom. The first of these is labeled "profile" and then "pm" - you click on this one and you are then able to send a private message to the person who made the post. If you have a question that you want considered for sending to Rawson Thurber, simply find any post by me and send the question via private message.

=======================

From SanSan

I am wondering how the story line will be handled, if it will cover all the books by Richard and Wendy, and then more, or not more? ..

Some points are open in people's minds (where there were divergences, or there were other comics which came out and picked up side lines, under lines and over lines). ... How will they be addressed? What will be the criteria for inclusion or non-inclusion of non-main book items?

I guess I am just "wonderin'" about how much of what will be in the show, because most all of it was wonderful. ... (I would say all, but I did not have the option to read it "all".)

Am I supposed to PM this to someone? ... ... :? ... not seeing PM button ... ??? :?

I've just sent the first batch of questions for Rawson to consider. As I posted at the start of this thread, it may be some days before I get a reply, so please be patient.

You may be wondering, how do I choose which questions to submit? For now, I'm picking the more general sort, ones asking after overall themes or feelings about the film, the process of working on it, etc.

Many of you want to know what parts of the published story will make it into the screenplay. I'm holding off on those as, quite simply, story content decisions are still being made.

A few questions tell me that not everyone is reading what's already been posted. Tsk! Tsk! Example: a question about why things are so changed in the sample storyboards posted elsewhere. It's clearly stated that those are from another attempt made years ago, for illustration only about how storyboards look, and have no connection to the current project.

Dig deep and keep 'em coming!

Just sent the following questions to Richard:

--How is writing Elfquest different from your experience writing Dodgeball and The Mysteries of Pittsburgh?

--Elfquest deals with some mature themes (violence/war, sexual taboo, dangers of blind faith, etc.). What do you think is appropriate (or inappropriate) for a PG-13 film?

--Elfquest has a subtle but strong conservation message. Do you plan on working that into the film?

--You've got the following three characters and can only include two in this film: Dart, the Bone Woman, Guttlekraw. Which one do you leave out and why?
