So what's going on with this movie, Rawson hasn't said anything about it in a while (or I haven't seen anything). Are they still doing it?

My guess? Unless Richard tells us the deal's off... they're still busy! Yes Rawson is probably going to answer more questions somewhere in the future, but he's busy... working on the movie!
Guys, it takes over a year (and sometimes several) to get a movie from the planning to the production stage. As far as we know they're still at the planning stage so, off course, the news are scant

NEWS!!!!!!! AyoooOOOooA!!!! Progression!

"This one has long lingered in Development Hell but now Deadline report that Joe Ahearne has been hired to deliver a new script and original director Rawson Thurber is still on directing duties..
Here is something we missed over the weekend that should please fans of the little pointy eared fellas the world over. In an article detailing writer Joe Ahearne's mysterious new Supernatural Thriller pitch at Warner BrosDeadline also reveal that he has signed on to write a new script for Wendy and Richard Pini's cult classic ElfQuest..
It’s the British writer’s second deal with Warner Bros, which recently hired him to rewrite Elf Quest for Rawson Thurber to direct. Thurber wrote the original draft. Ahearne will write Elf Quest and start the new pitch at the same time.
Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) had previously delivered his script draft back in 2009 but since then we haven't hear a peep about this movie. Some of our younger CBMers may not know much, or have even heard of Elfquest but back when it was published by Marvel's more adult imprint Epic Comics it gained quite a following. The stories featured complex and deep themes and characterizations, and subverted a lot of the cliches and notions of how the Fantasy genre is usually depicted in much the same way Game Of Thrones did for this generation. I myself was a big fan and have hoped for a movie version for a long time so I'm very happy that things seem to be moving forward.

Thanks for the news, Firestar! So Thurber is still director, but I wonder how much is his script going to be rewritten?
Guys, is it time for us to organize a sit-down protest, "Occupy Hollywood"?

Anyone who thinks Elfquest is pornography needs to see what goes on network TV these days.

Time for the Trolls to take over!

It sounds as if even people who aren't hardcore fans are worried about the producers not being true to the story. A big fear for everyone.

Having seen the storyboards for the earlier project, I'm not concerned that the story isn't true to the original. If new fans see the movie, an are inspired to read the comics, they won't feel as if they are rehashing the same story.
Besides, I want to hear Picknose sing!
