How do you think life here on the forums will change when the movie comes out?

Something I've not seen too much discussion about yet is how things will change here in the Scroll of Colors when more people hear about the new movie (trailers) and then when the movie comes out.

For the last few months I've been on here, there seems to be no more than a dozen or so people on at any give time, with about the same viewing either not logged in or new to the site.

I'm wondering how big of an explosion we can expect with new blood coming in and what changes we can expect from a new generation of fans.

I can see there being a bit more traffic hitting the site with the trailers, but perhaps as high as several thousand new members hitting the boards when the movie comes out as they fall in love with ElfQuest.

On the technical side im hoping we won't see crashes or delays (bandwidth issues) with the influx, or issues with hackers as attentioin is brought to the site.

On the community side, I'm hoping the caring, peaceful feel of the Scroll is maintained, it'll be up to the ones that have been here and groomed the boards into what they are to lead the newcomers when they hit.

On the discussion front, i also hope that the new format coming soon will help us keep from losing our favorite threads in the potential flood that's coming.

What do yall think? Perhaps our fearless leaders or site admin. has some insite?

(Preservers: If this is more appropiate elsewhere, feel free to move it, delete it or change it as needed)
Well... I have a suspicion this

SPOILER WARNING!!!!

May appear a bit more often than it do now... until we've all seen the movie that is...

Thanks for the B-day gift, Emby!
I think it will be fine overall, myself.

Does this forum have a spoiler tag?

If it doesn't the new one should. Like using Bold and Italic or colors, the '[ *spoiler] tag works the same way on other forums.
it would look like this
only the middle part would be blacked out.
Visit the Otherforest, get made into an elf! Ask me how!
I certainly hope that the social feel, indeed the caring and peaceful feel will stay.
It would ofcourse be nice to attract new fans, but I do hope that the forum won't be flooded with new, possibly double, threads so we won't lose track of our favorite threads.

But I guess we'll kinda have to wait and see...

oh, and ditto what Redhead said about the spoiler warning! plus that spoiler system thingie would be nice indeed.

Thanks to ElfTanner & Embala for the beautiful banners!

I am hoping that the close knit and caring group we currently have remains the same. There may be more traffic on the fourm, but who knows. We'll just have to wait and see.
So I'm on the short side and have a strange sense of humor. I don't see a problem. Do You?

Who knows? Maybe the close knit and caring group will be somewhat bigger. When people find out we aren't crazy... :D

I am hoping there will be more male subscribers.

Time for the Trolls to take over!
There probably WILL be people on the thread who have never read the comics. That'll be the biggest change. There will probably be fanart and fiction that are based within the movie world only-that reflect the costume changes and character tweaks that are inevitable when switching mediums. There might be brand-new characters that don't exist anywhere except within the movie, so in comes the flood of debate on weather they were good additions or not.

Depending on how "accurate" the movie is....and I really think it should be a stand-alone piece; there will be canon debates. Will and movie and comics merge into one massive canonical world, or will there be movie canon and comic canon.

I think it's waaaay early to speculate about this sort of thing, but I'm excited about the idea of having so many people discover this place and discover Elfquest.

Okay see now that is a HOOT because used to be that EQ would bring in the "wimmins" into the comics to even the scales for the boys since there were waaay more boys than girls - and now here we are commenting that there isn't enough menfolks around.

Talk about full circle!

I hope there are more Men too! We need more... I've gotten my guy into EQ (he's mother's a bit of a fan). So I am hoping he'll join the forums but no such luck as of yet.

But I do hope there will be New Blood (ok punned)- in the Forums soon when the movie comes out-when ever it does.
A lot will depend on how well the movie's marketed and how successful it is...the best movie in the world won't generate new fans if no one goes to see it.

There will be the long-term fans like us who will go (although I'm in NO shape to do a costume anymore), but the rest of the public?? The marketing will have to fight the perception that a fantasy film -- especially an animate done -- is worth watching....especially if there are elves in it. Let's be honest, it's difficult to put an elf into a storyline without having it come off as a trite ploy. Tolkien did it, so have the Pinis....but those are the exception rather than the rule. It's going to be a challenge.
Boldly going forward, 'cause I can't find reverse!!
well lets look at the absolute worse case possible out come, we get a bunch o NOOBETTAS who dont ever bother to read the comics and fill this site with so much
