Final Quest Predictions

Anyone who's followed Wendy's Facebook page (the Wendy Masque one) has caught this post and its comments: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/permalink.php?story _fbid=197643716923937&id=100000349294445

As Wendy herself comments, the first hint is "Be careful what you wish for", pertaining to - in her own words - "the collective wish of The Classic Quest".

The second hint will be a sketch that she's working on that will be posted in Elfmom's sketchbook.

Not a lot of predictions we can make about the sketch until we've seen it, but the first hint is interesting. The collective wish (or one of them at least) for the Original Quest was to find a place in the world, whether it was a physical place or having others of your kind around you. That seems to be pretty much the case at this point in Elfquest, though how long that'll last is another story. Perhaps the elves are chased out of their Holt again?

Dreamtime has several hints scattered around it for the Final Quest, or so I believe. Strongbow's and Moonshade's dream fortold Chitter's birth, Treestump has begun smithing and so on. But not everything in their dreams have come to pass.

So - let the discussion begin!

We get new eye candy? Sweeeeet.
Anyway, it will be nice to see a hint or two.
Well.. Wendy said the hint was 'be careful what you wish for...' and then asked, 'what was the larger, collective wish of the original quest?'

I think they are finally going to find and unite all of the scattered children of the high ones... and that it isn't going to be pretty.

It will start when Sunstream uses his powers (now that Recognition is out of the way) to do a mass-mind contact. Maybe he will stumble across something he will wish he hadn't. Or... maybe choices will have to be made.

Here's a question- Cutter doesn't control the Palace of the High Ones. it belongs to all elves. Therefore, what happens with it should be up to majority rule. The Wolfridrs are happy living in the woods, with the Palace nearby. But.. what if a large mass of elves wanted to return to the stars? That would certainly pose a conundrum. Because a good minority would be ill suited to that.

There will probably be some kind of war or battle.. and Treestump's weapons will be used against his own kind. An elf civil war?

I kinda hope they decide to go off planet and just let the Wolfriders stay behind. They honestly seem like they would only feel at home on Wotm.

Why would anyone stop the Wolfriders from staying if they wanted? I think it would be more of an issue of letting the Palace, and the elves who wanted to take it, go...

Agch, Sorry. I wasn't really clear. It's just that I've always had the notion the Wolfriders ties to the world would pretty mush keep them there. If that was the case, the other tribes who really want to go, would hesitate. Held back by the minority.

(The scenario you mentioned didn't even cross my mind. I just assumed the Wolfriders would forget about the others after a couple of years/centuries. Blame Wolfrider! for giving me a bad impression of the Wolfriders memory).

Of course that's just the conclusion I came to.

Thank you for sharing these news ! Smile
Wow, ayooah !
Can't think of anything in particular right now, I just hope we will see Strongbow and Moonshade, maybe the end of their dream (I mean in Dreamtime) as we see Strongbow on the piece of art Wendy drew some time ago about Final Quest (Where can I find it by the way ? Can't remember).
Wendy and I were talking about starting a new thread for discussion and speculation about "The Final Quest" - and lo and behold, Livie the Lurker has beaten us to it! Way to go!

Wendy was thinking about posting her teaser "sketch" in the "Elfmom's Sketchbook" topic, but we decided that whatever else she creates to post there, any artwork having to do with the Final Quest will be posted here instead. It only makes sense, don'tcha know.

By the way, to call this newest teaser a sketch is somewhat akin to calling a Ferrari Testarossa a car. And further, I will say not, prefering to let Elfmom herself make the post and whatever comment she will.

Thanks Elfpop. The art speaks for itself (albeit cryptically) so, apart from "have fun speculating" there's not much I have to say except:

We've seen him afraid before...afraid of heights...afraid of the infinite starways of Space. But what unwelcome revelation could terrify the Wolf Chief to the point of near madness?

O.O Pure prettyness.
Psychologically unhinged or crazed Cutter...Best hint ever.
Cutter is the most interesting when he's not well, to me at least. XD
I'm most likely just imagining things...but Cutter looks..beardless to me.
Hmmm...I think Wolfblood removal is unlikely.
But the way he's holding onto the branches...O.o
Leetah's expressing kinda strikes me as she's doesn't know what's going on with him.

That's gorgeous!

That large thunk you all heard was me laid out on the floor in stunned insensibility.

This is sooooo freakin' beautiful, Elfmom.

hmm.... the only thing I can think of from the top of my head is that it would have to be having the loss of "The Way" revealed to all of the elves/wolfriders?

...or Skywise dying? or even Ember or SunStream dying? oor... loosing the palace permanently for the greater elfin opinion of them wanting to leave Abode... Timmain gets rabid? Rayek gets his way, winnowill leaves his mind, to take over Timmains? that would certainly devastate Cutter.

okokok, ill admit that last one was a bit far-fetched. I need some sleep.

Hmm, what could make Cutter react with such abject horror...

* finding out that Recognition made another boo-boo in his case, and he's destined to be soulmates with Winnowill for all time?

* hearing that the Abode Gap has finally discontinued leather hiphuggers?

* Sunstream and Brill telling him that they're gonna have octuplets, so the comic has to be renamed Cutter and Leetah + 8?

* learning the Elfquest movie's going to be co-directed by Quentin Tarrentino?

If it were Suntop or Ember, Leetah would be loosing it too. And if Winnowil gets loose, that sort of invalidates Roque's Quest... which i think the Pini's sanctioned.

Hmm... Maybe they somehow contacted the Neverending.
Maybe Jinks mindwiped Skywise (who I'm guessing is her dad...) or maybe she mindwiped Cutter.

Or maybe... Cutter got to 'go out.' He freaks out at heights. He freaks out being in space. What's the ultimate extension of that? 'Goint out' into spiritual space-- leaving his body. Like Suntop does.

If he tried it for any reason.. I bet that would scare the bejeezus out of him!
