Troll Rebellion-Triumph or Tragedy?

Following Trollbabe's example, I've been trying to think of the Troll Rebellion from the Troll's eyes. Was it a win-win for them? Their descendants are strong, independent, and arguably the top species on Abode. Or a mixed blessing. There are (as far as we know) no "Original trolls" left alive by the time of EQ #1. Although Trollbabe argues (well) that no trolls were harmed in the landing and by the humans, I think a few of the groundlings may have well have been squished in the human's kill frenzy. Far more probably died of the elements and the hard life they were forced into to survive the crash.
I wonder if the trolls had a "Do over" would the rebellion had gone the same way?
On reflection the rebellion seems actually compassionate-the trolls could well have killed a lot of the Coneheads, but chose not to.
In an "alternate history" where some High Ones and proto trolls were able to escape into the Scroll Room (as a panic room) to hide from the humans-I had the trolls range from hardcore mutineers, a few who rebelled out of boredom, and a few who wanted their freedom, but believed that crash landing on a strange planet to get it was a dumb idea.
Any thoughts?

If we don't see them getting killed, if it's not mentioned then I don't think they suffered any losses what so ever. They ran for the hills and dug in.

No, they'd probably have gone ahead and killed the Coneheads so they'd never have to bother with their descendants.
MT, your alternate universe is a logical scenario. Assuming there were a dozen or more proto-Trolls, they would have had diverse responses as to how the rebellion played out. There would be hardcore types leading the rebellion, with bored, shy or reluctant followers who see it through, but have their doubts. One or two "I told you so" types would round it out.

I don't recall seeing any Troll remains in the storis about the Palace crash, but that doesn't mean a few weren't killed. Olbar's tribe was wary of the Preserver-infested Forbidden Grove, but I don't recall any of the Stone Age humans having legends about Trolls. If they encountered Trolls, they may have lumped them in with the "demons."

Time for the Trolls to take over!
Thanks for your response Trollbabe!
I wonder how the proto trolls would view their descendants? Most undoubtedly would be proud that they are possibly the apex species beyond even the magical elves or numerous humans, but I wonder if some will be disappointed that troll society is not an equalitarian paradise. I had two of the female mutineers being quite vexed that the status of females (for the most part)has crumbled somewhat.

I'm not sure who's to blame for the status of females between the time of the Greymung/Guttlekraw split, and the ascension of Queen Drub. I'm tempted to blame females, but I don't want to start a debate.

Initially, men and women had to struggle to survive. Women had to work as hard as men, and bear children as well. In small numbers, under primitive conditions, this is the only viable option.

As communities and infrastructure developed, and Trolls increased in number, they could specialize. A female could raise crops and children, and remains safely underground, while men hunted and fought the forces of nature. Men, with their upper-body strength, could work iron and dig tunnels.

The hazards of mining and tunnel-digging might have taken the life of at least one pregnant female or young mother, prompting Troll society to discourage women from such dangerous pursuits.

Women found the could specialize in areas that required no heavy lifting. Maggoty was gifted with beauty and herbalism skill, which she used to become a valuable member of the kingdom. Granddaughter Oddbit had beauty and the ability to dance, which she used as her sole means of support.

Unfortunately, Oddbit would land in situtations in which beauty could not save her. Then she would either turn her fickle attention to the male in power, or whine and cry. The women under Guttlkraw's rule were not much better having traded the High Ones' benevolent enslavement for a ruthless tyrant.

Generally, I think the first Trolls might be happy with their descendants, had they been able to see the whole history through to Queen Drub.
