I love all manga, but I'm only hooked on a select few, and most of those are edo-period samurai or softcore shonen-ai... aliens and pretty girls with cat ears just don't measure up to 'Lone Wolf and Cub' or 'Gravitation'... or my all-time favourite, 'Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind'...
Reading two books now: 'Eragon' by Paolini and a gay&lesbian short story collection: 'Bending the Landscape: Science Fiction.'
So far all the names in Eragon sound clumsy to me, maybe I'll see some logic once I read further - I pay a lot of attention to names, reading and writing both. In a fantasy all foreign-sounding names should sound like they are based on some secret but existing languages. Elfquest follows this rule, Tolkien followed it so far he went and invented the languages, I follow it to variable degrees but I do follow it in every world I write in.
Bending the Landscabe is as enthralling as its Fantasy sibling.
